Meet the Staff

This page is under construction at the moment.  I need to take more silly photos.

Head of Centre - James Scarborough

James started here as Deputy Head in 2000 and became Head of Centre in 2003. Before coming to Burwell House, he worked at a Study Centre in Hampshire and taught for 5 years in two junior schools near Portsmouth. He enjoys working outside and has had all sorts of jobs and hobbies that have kept him in the fresh air...including reed-cutting, landscape gardening, potato picking, and being an archaeologist! He enjoys playing football with his two sons and supports Pompey (boo hiss).

His favourite Burwell activity is Burwell Fox and favourite Burwell Meal is 'Strangled' Chicken Pie.

Deputy Head of Centre - James Dawkins

The other James has worked here since September 2006.  Previously he worked at another Centre in Surrey and before this he was a teacher at a Middle School in Norwich.  He's also been a paperboy, a go-kart racing marshal and a window cleaner!  He likes Orienteering, Gardening and looking after his Chickens (that's one of his on his back).  He supports Ipswich Town (they rule).

His favourite Burwell activity is Orienteering and favourite Burwell Meal is Lasagne.

Tutor - Antonia (Toni) Nordan

Before coming to Burwell House Antonia worked at a Centre in woodland near London, and before that at a Centre by the sea on the Isle of Wight. Her favourite place to be is outdoors, where she loves to do activities such as walking and canoeing.

In the past she has been a competitive gymnast in Sports Acrobatics. Other jobs she has had include a job as a waitress, a bar maid and a gymnastics coach. She once delivered teeth to dentists!

Her favourite Burwell activity is The Great Eggscape and her favourite Burwell meal is Pasta Bolognaise.

Vicki previously worked in a Special Needs School for 5 years before coming to Burwell House in January 2008. She loves to entertain - she loves singing, dancing, acting (and talking- ha ha!), making her the ideal candidate for taking you through your time in the TV studio.

Vicki loves music (a real 80’s chic, who was once in a pop video with Nik Kershaw – ask your teacher who he is) She also loves TV especially Dr Who (as she fancies David Tennant) and the fab Torchwood.

Vicki used to be a Red Coat at Butlins, where she danced on stage every Friday night with a cheesy pop group called “Black Lace” to an awful song with a silly dance that went… “Agadoo, doo, doo, push pineapples shake the tree….”

Her favourite Burwell House food is the yummy cakes.

In the Office

In the Office are the behind-the-scenes team, though they do venture out into the open sometimes!  Amanda and Sarah make sure your visit is organised properly.  Amanda loves Scotland and walking her puppy - Sarah loves....  Gary is our Site Coordinator who makes sure the house and grounds are well looked after.  He loves his caravan.  Maureen makes sure you are all fed and catered for properly. She loves holidays in the sun.  Wendy does all sorts of bits and bobs - including keeping the office clean and tidy - you'll see her all over the place (including possibly on her Motorbike)

Preparing your meals in the kitchen you will find our catering team.  Look out for Jacqueline (makes a mean chicken pie), Patsy (the world's best custard), Penny (voice of an angel) Wendy (she's everywhere!), Heather (the best dressed food ever) and Claire (never stops smiling).  Listen out for Penny's singing!

Upstairs

Making sure your rooms are ready upstairs are our domestic team.  Look out for Roseen (she also makes the yummy biscuits), Wendy (she's superhuman), Lorraine (the fastest bedmaker in the East), and Annette (keep your rooms tidy or she'll have words!).  They work so fast at making beds that it's impossible to take a photo in focus.  Check out the photo on the right - it's the best we could do.

In the gardens

Meet Alfie.  He doesn't live here but he loves being here more than the rest of us put together.  He'll join in activities in the garden and generally make a nuisance of himself.  Watch out for those claws - he's a bit unpredictable.

His favourite Burwell meal is bird and squirrel and his favourite Burwell activity is looking very pleased with himself.
