Our TV studio gives children a fantastic opportunity to create and film a news programme on a subject of their choosing – working in both the presentation and technical departments during school day visits. This is an excellent opportunity for working on creative writing, with scripts abeing written at school before the visit. Then on the day, reading, speaking and listenieng skill s come to the fore. In addition this day is a great focus for teamwork with both teams needing to focus on working together in order to make a successful broadcast. At the end of the session, any recorded material will be put onto USB drives for the school to take home.
Day visits across the curriculum at Burwell House are administered and led by the fantastic staff at the Cambridgeshire Environmental Education Service (CEES). With a very wide variety of themes for groups from foundation stage through KS1 and KS2, groups could spend a day visit studying Rocks and Soils, Romans, Vikings or Rivers.
For more details on these and the wide variety of further possibilities please download the CEES leaflet here.
