School day visits

As well as residential provision, Burwell House can offer a fantastic environment for a school day visit – with themes and subjects across the curriculum.

As a result of the pandemic, Burwell House has launched new day visit provision. With a focus on teamwork, skill development, creativity, nature connection, and FUN, these days are a great way to improve pupil and teacher wellbeing. Come and spend the day in our beautiful and safe gardens!

To find out more about the options and activities available, please read our COVID-Secure Day Visits Leaflet

Our TV studio gives children a fantastic opportunity to create and film a news programme on a subject of their choosing – working in both the presentation and technical departments during school day visits.  This is an excellent opportunity for working on creative writing, with scripts being written at school before the visit.  Then on the day, reading, speaking and listening skills come to the fore. In addition this day is a great focus for teamwork with both teams needing to focus on working together in order to make a successful broadcast.  At the end of the session, any recorded material will be put onto USB drives for the school to take home.

Environmental Education

Day visits across the curriculum at Burwell House are administered and led by the fantastic staff at the Cambridgeshire Environmental Education Service (CEES). With a very wide variety of themes for groups from foundation stage through KS1 and KS2, groups could spend a day visit studying Rocks and Soils, Romans, Vikings or Rivers.

For more details on these and the wide variety of further possibilities please download the CEES leaflet here.
